Coffee is an important resource for the community around Banko Taratu, with most being grown on small plots of land often in the farmer’s own garden. These small farmers bring their crops to the Banko Taratu washing station where the cherries are processed utilizing the washed method in order to de-pulp them. They are then soaked for 24-48 hours before being laid on raised beds to dry for 2 weeks.
